“Why You Matter To The Lennox Addington Historical Society?”
Members of the Society can be proud of their role in preserving history in many different
ways. A shared interest in history is one of the intangible benefits of membership.
In 1904, the founders of the Society began acquiring locally significant documents and photographs.
In 1954, during the presidency of Judge Gerald Smith, the Society established a museum and began actively collecting
locally signficant antiques and vintage objects. An agreement with the County of Lennox and Addington (1975)
permitted relocation to a better site and in 1976 the former County Jail opened as the Lennox and Addington County Museum.
