Cheesemaking in Lennox & Addington (L&A) County was an economic and vital part of this community for over 200 years. The Wilton Cheese Factory, in L&A County, Ontario has been in operation since 1867 as a Farmer’s Cooperative, until 1970s when purchased by the Jensen Family.
In Lennox & Addington County, only the Wilton Cheese Factory survives and has created a niche market for the excellence of their cheeses especially curds.
The Thirty Year Life of Norm Brooks Cheesemaker
Norm Brooks born and attended school in Adolphustown Ontario. At Age 14, he started working a summer job and later after school hours at the local cheese factory, the United Empire Loyalist. In 1963, after graduating, he attended Kemptville Agriculture College Diary programme and became a cheesemaker.
